February’s New Books
Posted by Diversity in YA on Jan 31, 2011 in Blog, Featured, Middle Grade, New Books, Young Adult | 8 commentsEvery month we feature all the new middle grade and young adult releases that include diversity. February 2011 brings us 12 new diverse MG and YA titles, ranging from science fiction to a collection of basketball stories. (We tried to find them all, but we may have missed a few. If you know of a book we should include, please tell us!)
By “diversity” we mean: (1) main characters or major secondary characters (e.g., a love interest or best friend kind of character) who are of color or are LGBT; or (2) written by a person of color or LGBT author. Unfortunately due to time constraints we are unable to include each book’s summary, but we encourage you to click on the book covers to be taken to Indie Bound, where you can read a description of the book.

What a great selection! I absolutely LOVED Orchards.
really good to know. thanks for
the rec!
I really knew about the majority of this, but however, I still believed it had been helpful. Sweet blog!
it is nice to see all the covers
featured together, isn’t it? thanks
for commenting!
Iron Witch is a wonderful little book – it appears to be yet another pointless Twilight clone but is actually a tightly plotted and well researched adventure, and I enjoyed it immensely. Plus it’s hard not to fall in love a little bit with Navin.
i’m really looking forward to reading The Iron Witch.
i never thought it looked like Twilight type at all
from cover or flapcopy?
Top 3 books I’m most excited for in Feb: The Iron Witch, Tall Story and Orchards! And now I have to add Pick-Up Game because it has some really great authors featured.
I love this spotlight, thank you
yay! thanks ari!! it figures you’d
have a cute avatar too. haha!
